ai16z, the pioneering project to apply artificial intelligence to investment management, is making the crypto community curious with new plans. Can an AI Agent platform create its own blockchain and change the way it works?
AI16Z, the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) of the project of the same name, is in the process of researching and discussing tweaking tokenomics and considering the launch of an entirely new layer 1 blockchain.
The move comes after the project's token hit an impressive $1.5 billion market cap on Dec. 29, before adjusting to around $1.3 billion at the time of writing.

In order to optimize value for token holders, the ai16z team initiated discussions with the community, focusing on a phased tokenomics overhaul.
One of the notable changes is the implementation of the staking mechanism, which allows users to lock their tokens to receive a variety of benefits, including early access to new features and revenue sharing from platform fees.

In addition, ai16z plans to launch a token launch platform (launchpad) in the first quarter of 2025.
Get inspired by pump.fun, the platform is expected to become central to the implementation of AI projects built on ai16z's Eliza framework. The project's native token will serve as the primary currency for all transactions between AI Agents on the platform.
According to internal documentation, the launchpad will integrate multiple value capture mechanisms, including launch fees, ai16z token staking requirements to be granted access, and liquidity pool pairing strategies.

In particular, ai16z is also working on the possibility of developing a specialized layer 1 blockchain, designed to optimize performance for AI applications. This is an ambitious step forward, showing the project's long-term vision of building a comprehensive AI ecosystem.
ai16z is the first venture capital fund run by an AI Agent, built on the Solana blockchain and not related to the venture capital firm of the same name Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

The project focuses on the Eliza development framework, which allows developers to build their own AI Agents. Eliza is written in TypeScript and has cross-platform compatibility, supporting interaction across a variety of blockchain networks and social networking applications.
The current ai16z token has two main functions:
- Administration:The token grants voting rights to holders in the DAO, allowing them to participate in the management and direction of the development of the project.
- Utilities: The token is used as a utility token in the ai16z ecosystem.
Although ai16z is managed by a DAO, the core development team still plays an important role in strategic direction for the platform. However, the project has always promoted a spirit of cooperation, transparency and open source, encouraging participation and contributions from the community.
