Mysterious man burns millions of dollars worth of Ethereum

Authors

If what happened is true, this could be seen as one of the craziest events of early 2025. But is it all just drama staged to attract attention or is there a darker truth yet to be exposed?

At around 17:30 on February 17, the mysterious individual sent 500 ETH (about $1.4 million) to the token burning address with a cryptic message. Kuande Investment and its two CEOs Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi have accused them of using brain-controlled technology to control employees and former employees of the company.

But this is not the first time. According to Etherscan, the total amount of ETH burned from this address now amounts to 603 ETH, or $1.65 million. In addition to burning ETH, the individual donated a total of 1,950 ETH (about $5.35 million) to various addresses, mostly non-profit organizations or anonymous addresses.

In these transactions, he left a series of messages on the blockchain, with the content mainly revolving around a conspiracy to manipulate the brain and control people through brain-computer interface technology. Some content including both English and Chinese is translated as follows:

  • “I am Hu Lezhi, programmer and entrepreneur. From October 2022, I realized that I had been monitored and manipulated by the brain control organization since birth.”
  • “When I realized their existence, they hurt me even more. For the past two years, I have been in extreme pain.”
  • “Now, I have completely lost human dignity. I decided to leave this world and hope that this evil world will be destroyed soon.”
  • “Brain control chips have been deployed on a military scale. “All military powers use radio stations, radio and brain nano-chips to control their citizens.
  • “As brain, computer, and mind-reading interface technology developed, new types of crime emerged. Here, wild animals become puppets, slaves of digital machines.”
  • “There is a new type of crime that is gradually depriving victims of their sense of desire, making them digital slaves. If one day I become a victim of the last phase of control, I will leave this world.

An X user named “syq” suggested that the individual making these trades could be @nothingness321, who once topped Binance's trader charts.

This individual is most likely a Chinese millionaire. Since 2022, this person has taken unusual actions, including burning 2,500 ETH (about $7 million at the time) in single transactions. This behavior also comes with similar messages about being manipulated by the “brain control organization.”

While it is impossible to confirm the true identity of the ETH burner, the association of these transactions raises many questions about the motives behind it. The burning of ETH has caused them to disappear permanently from the number of tokens in circulation.

For now, the community is still speculating about the true identity of the perpetrator and whether this story is related to a psychological problem or some larger conspiracy.

Shortly after the mysterious individual burned 500 ETH and left a message about being tracked by a “brain control organization”, a memento named HULEZHI was deployed on Ethereum by anonymous people. It quickly gained attention and became the token with the highest trading volume on ETH in the last 6 hours, with a market capitalization exceeding $18 million.

Not only did the MEMECOIN HULEZHI rise sharply, the ETH price also entered an upward trend in the short term. After the news spread, ETH rose nearly 7%, from $2,630 to $2,811.

The death of Hu Lezhi has not yet been confirmed, as there is no official information about the true identity of the man. The organizations involved, including Kuande Investment and the two CEOs mentioned in Etherscan messages, Feng Xin and Xu Yuzhi, have not yet given any feedback on the incident.

Everything is still a mystery, as ETH burning and donation transactions are accompanied by strange messages that generate much speculation but no concrete evidence to authenticate.

This has also been seen as one of the most confusing events in the last two months of the crypto market, leaving the community curious about the real motives behind these actions.
