What is the usual protocol (usual)? Stablecoins expand the RWA ecosystem

Authors

USUAL brings a new mechanism for stablecoins to use RWAs as collateral in a decentralized trend. What is the usual protocol?

What is the usual protocol?

Usual is a pioneering infrastructure project that aggregates encrypted real world assets (RWAs) from leading institutions such as BlackRock and Ondo, converting them into USD0 — a decentralized, multi-use stablecoin for all on-chain operations.

The project was built on the desire to minimize dependence on issuers and give ownership to stablecoin holders, whereby users who provide TVL to the project are the same as the company owner and share the associated revenues instead of depending on the issuer, for example Tether. This is also 61st project to appear on Binance Launchpool

Main products of Usual Protocol

Usual Protocol works on 3 main products including:

Fiat Stablecoin

  • The USD0 stablecoin is also known as the Liquid deposit token.
  • Used in payments, transactions, use as collateral.
  • Earn extra yield from lending, providing liquidity.
  • Plays the role of connecting DeFi and CeFi.

Liquid Staking Tokens

  • The LST of the USD0 stablecoin is USD0++, which is considered as a saving while holding USD0.
  • Staking USD0 users will receive USD0++ at a 1:1 ratio, which can then also be used in DeFi protocols.
  • Used in staking activities.
  • Help users earn stablecoin interest from RWAs (types of bonds), staking interest (paid as USUAL token rewards).

USUAL Admin Token

  • Empowering the administration of the project reserve fund.
  • Received through USD0++ rewards.
  • It is possible to stake USUAL to get more USUAL.

Difference of USD0 from other stablecoin projects

USD0 is Usual's USD anchor stablecoin, aggregated and backed by RWA assets such as US Government Bonds, providing an alternative to USDC and USDT, connecting traditional financial markets and DeFi.

Instead of relying on fiat assets and traditional bank deposits like USDC/USDT projects, USD0 opts for short-term and highly liquid assets such as US bonds or repo transactions.

Some characteristics of USD0:

  • Decentralized, not managed by third parties
  • Not influenced or dependent by commercial banks
  • Transparency and clarity on secured assets through on-chain operations
  • Administrative rights are assigned to the user himself
  • Fully collateralized to minimize risk
  • Collaboration with many major RWA partners: BlackRock, Ondo, Curve Finance...
  • Profitability with risk-free returns from RWAs through staking
